Senior students attending Newcastle Grammar School have the opportunity to undertake TVET courses at local TAFE Colleges. The TAFE-delivered VET (TVET) programme provides the opportunity to study modules from TAFE courses as part of the student's Preliminary Studies and/or the HSC.

Students are able to undertake courses in Year 11 and/or Year 12 depending on their selected vocational area. Students will receive credentials from TAFE (an Academic Transcript) and from the Board of Studies (an HSC).

The introduction of the 240-hour Industry Curriculum Framework (ICF) courses offers the option of sitting an HSC examination in the chosen vocational area. In practice, this means that the ICF VET course counts towards the University Admissions Index (UAI).

All TVET courses are designed to lead into a higher-level TAFE course. Students will have the opportunity to obtain advanced standing and/or continuing student status on successful completion of the TVET course. With completion of some courses students may gain a Statement of Attainment, Certificate I or Certificate II.

TVET students are assessed under conditions that satisfy the Board of Studies and TAFE NSW.
