Academic Scholarship Information
General Information
Newcastle Grammar School is offering a number of Scholarships for 2011 available to both new Students and continuing Students. Scholarships and remissions of fees are available to Australian citizens and permanent residents of Australia only.
Academic Scholarships
Academic Scholarships are available to Students entering Years 5 to 11 in 2011.
Students who wish to apply for a Scholarship must
sit for the Scholarship Examination which will be held on Wednesday, 31 March, 2010.
After the results of the Scholarship Examination are available, Students
who have been placed on the short list will be asked to attend an interview at
the School.
Students entering Years 5 and 6 in 2011 will sit the PSP (Primary Scholarship Program) with Years 7 to 11 in 2011 will sit for the SST (Scholarship Selection Test) Examination conducted through ACER (Australian Council for Educational Research). All Students who are wishing to apply for a Scholarship at Newcastle Grammar School in 2011 will be required to sit for the PSP or SST ACER Examination paper.
Please Note: Due to the SST examination being conducted on an alternate date to the CSTP (Cooperative Scholarship Test Program) examination, we are unable to accept preferencing on the application, or sit the examination at an alternate school campus.
Application Fee
Unfortunately, to cover the cost of the Scholarship Examination, a fee must be charged.
The application fee is $85.00.
Value of Scholarships
Scholarships come in the form of remission of tuition fees. The value of each Scholarship may vary. The amount of remission varies depending on the calibre of the applicant. Scholarships may cover 100% (very rare) of tuition fees or 75% or 50% or 25% depending on the calibre of the applicants. In some instances, Scholarships of lesser value may be offered. The School reserves the right to withhold a Scholarship (in any Year) if there are no candidates of sufficient merit.
Length and Tenure of Scholarships
Scholarships are subject to an annual formal review by the School in the light of progress, performance and attitude of the holder. It should be noted, however, that holders of Scholarships can normally expect the Scholarship to continue for the remainder of their education at the School (or whatever other period for which the Scholarships have initially been offered). In practice, such Scholarships have rarely been withdrawn by the School.
